Fact & Fiction is a documentary that tells the story of a KNIL soldier who documented the first Dutch military actions in the Dutch East Indies as a photographer. He left for Amsterdam, where he worked for an illusionist. Back in Indonesia, by then married to the orphan girl who had been sawn in half as part of the act, he smuggled weapons for Captain Westerling, who was preparing a coup.
